Vocal fry! I’d never heard of it before but I knew there was something about Sam Altman’s interviews that I found totally annoying put I couldn’t put my finger on it, and that’s what it is, vocal fry. Thanks for highlighting what it actually was.

Hi, thanks for sharing this! To me, finding tools is a bit of a challenge because you can easily get overwhelmed with the huge amount of alternatives available in the internet. Lately, I’ve been working in my pronunciation with Elsa and it works for me, but I,d like to improve my vocabulary as well. Which tools would you recommend?

Gemini has been a better experience for me when it comes to research and writing. ChatGPT is prone to writing short paragraphs which is good for stories but for more indepth research it looks bad. Gemini does a much better job once you feed it information and guide it.

I also liked the conversation. Funny as I did not see the movie :) My personal experience. Elder people are mostly not as "efficient" as young ones. When I was young it made me sometimes crazy :) but I learned a lot from them in correcting things I made too efficient :) and/or being a little more patient (with myself.... sometimes:) WHEN teams become old together .... They go under.... together... like GM, the Roman Empire and own experience:) maybe same with the EEC. 30 years patience are enough! For me. I am not interested at all in bying me only a cheap carglass because I can afford it. No matter how efficient it is produced! And watch it taped (to the wall or at the roof:) with Chinese gecco tape in my living room :)

I think a lot of you have warped and nasty reasons for hating vocal fry. It’s not harmful to the vocal cords, in contradiction to the misinformation people love spreading, and it doesn’t make someone unintelligent. It’s perfectly normal and sometimes even necessary to use vocal fry when speaking Danish and the Danes haven’t experienced a mass loss of our voices because of this, and I don’t think Danes sound unintelligent. Tagging Kim Kardashian shows that you have ulterior and outright hateful motives for disliking vocal fry and making this video as a whole. Valley girls and the way they speak aren’t hurting anyone find something else to be mad about, this isn’t the 80’s anymore.

I’ve lived in the U.S. my entire life and have never heard anyone refer to summer break/summer vacation as “summer holiday”. Ever. Holiday is used strictly to denote days of celebration you’d see on a calendar (Christmas, Labor Day, etc). Even the PTO days at work are “vacation days” even if you don’t go anywhere when you use that time. Vacation = time off work or school. OR a trip away from home. Holiday = a specific day(s) that is recognized by the government/businesses or celebrated by a significant number of people on the same date (ex: Valentine’s Day).
